Over 10,000 Malaysians who rely on work in Singapore for their livelihood were affected by the lockdown. Malaysians who makeup the backbone of certain industries in Singapore have sacrificed their time with loved ones, to hold the down the fort in Singapore, especially during the Coronavirus pandemic. As many avoid touching surfaces, cleaners like Priya spend their days disinfecting floors, windows, toilets, railings, door handles and high touch areas. While stay-at-home measures could mean more time with family, for DHL Operations Manager, Vimalan, it means leaving behind his 7 month baby girl to support his family. And while others have immediate family around to celebrate birthdays and occasions together, for technician Johari, Ramadan and Hari Raya might be spent alone. We shed light on those Malaysians who’ve sacrificed in order to support their home away from home.
